I'm considering requesting our shared hosting service (Verio Hosting 2000) to upgrade our store from 7.1.4 to the most recent version available (at least to 9.x, or v10 if supported).
Are there any serious issues I should know about before making this request?
For example, is support of older browsers (e.g. IE6) better, worse, or neutral? Any major work for me to do (e.g. converting templates, data, whatever)?
Upgrade from 7.1.4 to 10 (or 9.x): Any issues?

Generally there are no problems upgrading from one version to another. Existing templates should still work as they have in the past so there shouldn't be any major conversion work for you. There may have been a few bug fixes for browsers. You can see a list of new features in each version by going to
http://shopsite.com/help/ and clicking on the
"new features in ShopSite 10" link. On that page there will be a link just below the top table that will show new features in version 9 and a similar on on that page for version 8 etc.
