when setting up paypal as a payment option, there's field labeled "Order Description displayed by PayPal", which only allows me to put 1 description, when a client buys one of our products, no matter which one they select, the above description is used.
when receiving an order confirmation, we can't tell which product they bought as it always uses the same product description.
is there anyway to send the actual product name/description, that the client purchased, directly to paypal?

The order description you are referring to is just to let the shopper know what store they ordered from.
There is no way to send individual product descriptions to PayPal since they are just the payment method not generating the entire receipt for the order only the total, tax and shipping are sent to PayPal.
