Ordering Options

Is there any way not to display the Ordering Options - Pull down menu on the first page and only display it on the more info page?

Modify the product template so it does not display the dropdowns and include them in the moreinfo section of the product template.

I had thought about doing that in the template, but Im using a standard version (Modern) and do not know that much about the template design language. I guess its time to start learning it. Any tutorials out there for the novice ?
