Estimate Shipping Calculator in Shopping Cart

I see this in many shopping carts and it's a great feature. Customers like to know exactly what they are going to pay before checking out. One step better would be to combine it with a state tax estimator.

Can you explain why you need this feature? In most shopping carts you don't get shipping or tax information until after you have entered your full address and in some cases payment information. With ShopSite the shipping and tax are calculated on the first screen of the cart when the shopper just enters their zip code. So in effect this feature is built into the ShopSite checkout process. I see no need to have to go to another screen if the information is already on the first cart screen.

What I mean is a small field on the shopping cart page that prompts the customer to enter their zip code for shipping options and pricing.

It should already be there if you have any shipping or tax option set that requires a zipcode. Note that if you are using Google checkout you will not see this field in the cart because Google would not allow ShopSite to ask for any shopper address information including zipcode on the ShopSite side. They want to have total control over all shopper address information.
