product search

Post by artragrafx »

I have recently been hired on to recreate the website www.rackmountsolutions.net (which is currently utilizing the shopping cart 'StoreFront') and now has been set up into the OrderAnywhere and is moved to and being tested on a unique ip address and URL: www.RackmountRat.com and the internal merchant search feature, which was in storefront and now needs to be in ShopSite, other issues are that this site has many products and I would like to know the best/quickest way to set up this and other features such as customer login and I'm not sure what else will have to be set up but there are time constraints and I am new to ShopSite... please assist in these matters, thank you :)

The fastest way to set up a website with many products is to create custom templates. That way you do not have to copy and paste the add to cart button for each individual product.

If you already have the look that you would like for your store set up, and you would like to add the ShopSite tags to that design, there are a few steps that you can go through.

1. Go into the back office of ShopSite, to Merchandising > Custom Templates > New Template. Name this new template, then once you have saved changes, go in to Edit Template. You will want to take all the HTML for your page and paste it in here.
2. Add the ShopSite [-- DEFINE PAGE --] tag at the top of the HTML and the ShopSite [-- END_DEFINE PAGE --] tag at the bottom of the HTML.
3. Now you can start replacing the information in your page with ShopSite tags. For example, where you currently have the Page Name, you can replace that with the ShopSite tag [-- PAGE.Name --].
4. When you are ready to see what your template looks like, you would need to apply it to a page. You can do this by going to Pages > Edit Page Layout, and select your template from the drop down list. Then publish the page.

For more ShopSite template tags, you can refer to the following URL:
