Google and Multiple Currency Sites

Post by clearoutworld »

Good afternoon,

I have products that I sell in Canada and the US. Some are specific to the country while other products are the same in both.

1. Should I run separate shopsite pro sites for the .ca and .com websites?
2. If I run separate sites will Google give me a penalty?

Is there any way to use a single pro site to do both countries and charge in two currencies? Can someone create an API for the checkout?

Thanks for your help!!

There is no way to have a single ShopSite handle two different currencies. You can display two on your product pages but all transactions will be handled in a single currency.

So you will probably need to have two different stores one for US currency (and products) and the other for Canadian currency and products.

Since the two sites would not be identical Google should not penalize you.

Note that a Google Checkout account only has one Integration setting for the URL that they will send their completed order callbacks to, so each ShopSite store would require its own GC account.
