search indexing / publish bug in 8.2.1.1

Post by ryan@ddm »

Using 8.2.1.1. Pro on Solaris-SPARC:

I think I've found a bug in the search.

Here are my settings under Store Preferences --> Search Settings --> Search Indexing:
Indexable products fields: all checked.
Index numbers: checked.

Advanced search set to stems.

Example of the bug:

If I do a full regeneration, a search for 'kk112' will properly return this product:
http://www.davesmotors.com/store/product184.html
kk112 is in the product name and is also the SKU.

However, if I edit some other product (not kk12), then publish, a search for 'kk112' no longer returns any results.

If I edit some other product, then regen instead of publish, kk112 is properly found.

Bottom line: a full regen appears to be properly indexing for search, while a simple publish appears to be messing up previously correct indexing and search results...

Are the other products that you modify on the same page as where the kk112 product is found? I notice that the search destination url is the moreinfo page. Is that true of the product you change? Is it just this specific product that you have noticed the problem with or are there other ones too?

The problem appears to manifest for many products. All my search destinations are moreinfo. The product changed is not on the page with the product which is no longer searchable.

the problem seems to appear for some products and not for others. I will look into it more and see if I can pinpoint more accurately the differences or causes.

In the meantime, I am doing a full regen for every publish.

I also have found the Search Indexing problem since the upgrade. I notified ShopSite, but they needed me to duplicate the problem, but since I did not know why it happened, I could not duplicate it. But the full regeneration always solves the problem.
