Assign Coupon based on Referring URL?

Can we automatically apply a coupon to a shopper's cart based on the
referring URL of the website they came to our site from?

I'm not sure about this functionality within shopsite, but I just wanted to
say that you could use javascript to show a certain coupon code to users
that came from a specific referring URL.

I agree with Rodney. The way I would approach this is to capture the
referrer to a cookie named "referrer_coupon" or something and when the user
hits the cart screen, have the cart pull the cookie data as the default
value for the coupon field.
