We have several products that we do not want to assign to a page because we do not need the products to be visible to all users, only a select view. When updating the products the changes are not displaying when viewing the products via the custom More Info Pages link or by simply changing the main shopsite url to the custom url.
To make the changes stick we have to go into each product and assign it to the page, publish changes, then unassign said product. This process is cumbersome to say the least. Why are the updates not showing on the product(s) after publishing changes?

The 'More Info Page' generation is created as the products are encountered on the Pages, during Page generation. So if a product is not assigned to a page, its More Info Page isn't generated (or regenerated, in this case) during a Publish.
If the product is not assigned, in most cases, you do not need to use or update it.
If you want to hide it, you will need to still assign it to a hidden page for it to publish.
