UPS rates way off

Post by Swine »

We offer UPS and USPS rates on our website, with all rates being calculated automatically by the carrier.

We just had someone select UPS 2nd day - which is very rare. They paid $55.00 in shipping for 3 books. Crazy, but ok.

When we went to actually ship the books, the UPS cost is actually $97.

Question is how can there be such as disparity?

The UPS rates displayed in the cart come directly from UPS's rate server. They are based on product and other configuration options sent to it by ShopSite. The most likely reason would be that either the product and/or the UPS options in ShopSite have been setup/configured differently than the product was actually shipped. This could be caused by commercial vs. retail rates, type of pick-up, type of signature options, different weights, different package types, etc.

The settings for UPS are located under Commerce> Shipping> Shipping Rate Calculations and Services> Shipping Carriers> UPS> Configure>

You can also check the Product> Edit Product Info> Shipping and Download Information to make sure these settings are accurate.
