Auto parts search

This is for an auto parts store. We want to set up product search with drop downs by fields such as:
YEAR
MAKE
MODEL
TRIM
ENGINE
TRANSMISSION

Has anyone done this with Shopsite?

We do use MyFitment - a 3rd party application - for sending product fitment to ebay however that won't work for ShopSite.
We enter part number and then Year/Make/Model but they have no input option for Transmission.
Difficult to explain but we "know" the answer for the part number in that scenario.

You should be able to do something like, using extra product fields and sorting those based on relevance. You could write your own custom search form that can search for "search-term + style-keyword", then add on additional search keywords as the customer selects them (like the color). Then in the search settings you would just say to index the extra fields that have that information, and the relevance for those fields would be 10, whereas the relevance for other fields like product description, etc, would be much lower.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, there are way too many options to fit within custom fields. There are in some cases literally over a hundred fitments for a part. Difficult to explain. Each part can fit multiple years, make, model, engine and transmissions. I don't have a single value for YR Make Model Engine Transmission. If I did custom fields would work.
