Automatically creating single-use coupons (API?)

Postby mltsy » Tue Jun 19, 2007 9:12 am

Hi,

I'm wondering if there is a way to create single-use coupons through some kind of API using PHP or something. I have a site that uses PHP and would love to create a single-use coupon for each new newsletter subscriber, but it seems to be impossible. Is there any way to create a coupon from an external application?

Or if not, is there a way to create a couple hundred at a time so they can be copied and *distributed* by an external application?

Single-use coupons seem kind of ridiculous if you have to create each one manually... don't they?

Lexiconn has a ShopSite Pro module that creates a one-time use coupon for a customer when they complete an order, see:

From the description, though, I can't tell if it is available to you if you are not hosted with them.

That depends on what you are using them for. Some people use them as employee comps or they may issue one to an extra nice (or extra difficult) customer for PR purposes. But as far as issuing coupons in bulk goes, there isn't a built-in feature in ShopSite yet to do this.
