RESIZED IMAGES WITH CUSTOM TEMPLATES

Postby cheaptractorparts » Tue May 15, 2007 1:10 pm

I am using custom page, product, and shopping cart templates. Also, I upload my products as an excel spreadsheet. I have successfully created two resized images using the feature in shopsite (one for product pages and one for my shopping cart). How do I get them to display in these locations? Extra fields in spreadsheet? Changes to templates?

If you have ShopSite 8.3 then all you need to do is set image size for the product graphic and/or product moreinfo graphic, the search graphic to the size you want and the standard image tags will display the appropriate size. i.e [-- product.graphic --] will pull the size of image that is specified on the edit product info screen.

Jim,

I'm on v8.1.3.1, is my only alternative to setting image sizes via the Images -> Edit Image Attributes screen?

Thanks.

In versions prior to 8.2, where resized images was introduced, you could modify the displayed image size by editing the image attributes as you mentioned, but it would be preferable to use images of the size you want to display.

If you just resize via the edit image attributes screen the image displayed will be the size you set for attributes but the image downloaded would still be the full size image. So for example if you have an image that is 1000 x 1000 and has a size of 2 meg and you set the image of image attributes to have the image display as 100 x 100 the page will still download the image as 2 meg instead of one that could be just 20 K or so. So the best thing to do would be to use an image editing package (Photoshop, PhotoPaint etc) to resize image to the size you want them to display before you upload them into ShopSite.

You could also upgrade to the 8.3 version to get the new functionality if your host provides that service.
