This is either happening because of a problem with ShopSite back in the v3 days
and has always occured in your store since then, or you have a pages database
out of sync with a products database (which could happen either by restoring one
from backup without restoring the other from the same date from backup, or by
emptying one without emptying the other at the same time, etc).
It doesn't really cause a problem, it just indicates that there was an error
trying to place a product (or a link to another page) on the page because it
couldn't find that product (or page) in the database. The page will still be
generated and will still have all the other products on it, it just may have a
blank space where the product (or page link) should have been if it had been
found.
The solution would be to run the emitfix.cgi, and then go to Utilities ->
Publish and do a full Regenerate of your store. There is no link in the
backoffice to the emitfix.cgi, so you will just need to type it in on the URL,
for example if you are logged into the ShopSite backoffice and are on the main
screen, just replace the 'start.cgi' part of the URL with emitfix.cgi.
Basically, this cgi cleans up the database marking the links to products or
pages that don't exist anymore, then the Publish will clean them up. Publish
normally does this according to info stored when you delete or remove products
from pages etc in ShopSite, which is why the ERROR EMITTING is not something
that would normally happen unless your databases were out of syn for the reasons
described before.

We have ShopSite 6 setup on a couple of Linux boxes, identical setup except
processor:
RedHat 7.2 all patches
ShopSite 6 libc6.1
One is i586, the other is i686
On both servers everything seems to work fine, you can shop, etc.
But on the i586 box when you generate (Publish) the pages all the products
generate this error:
"Adding Product [Green Beans]... ERROR EMITTING:"
but it still says "Generation Successful" and the cart appears to work fine.
I searched the newsgroup and the knowledge base but all I could find were
references to ShopSite 3. I tried what I found there but it didn't fix it. I
thought it might be a permissions problem but I checked and couldn't find
anything.
Has anyone encounter this error yet? If so a fix or more information on
where to look would be appreciated.
Fortunately the i586 is a test box so it's not too critical, but in the near
future we will go live on similar hardware.
