Free Shipping Coupon

I'm new to the Forum so this may have already been answered. But is there a way to add a coupon for free shipping for just USPS shipments and free shipping period? I know there are other options for free shipping but we would like to do it with a coupon. Our consumers have asked for free shipping coupons for awhile and I have yet to figure out a way to do this, any help it greatly appreciated.

There is no "free shipping" coupon. Coupons can be for a % off or a $ amount off but they can't be variable like would be required for a free shipping one.

An enhancement has been logged on this issue but I don't know when/if it will be implemented.

I and others have requested this very basic (I think) feature several times. We use fixed-rate shipping (always $8.50 regardless of order size) so we can achieve free shipping by giving an $8.50-off coupon. For sellers using more complex shipping, free shipping coupons just aren't possible.

One problem--among several-- even with our simple system is the customer sees the $8.50 shipping charge on the receipt and often doesn't notice or understand the negative-$8.50 coupon that appears separately. Result: tons of customer confusion...by email or telephone and sometimes abandoned orders before checkout.

We've had good luck emailing occasional free shipping offers, but GAWD how I dread the complications. This should be a priority fix for the SS crew.

i agree. This is a very simple function but as it is most other mainline shopping carts don't offer it. Or if they do they offer it for every shipping option not just USPS which is the only way we would do it. This is a big reason we have yet to upgrade to the shopsite 8.

This omission is a deal breaker for me (my customer). If I can't provide a "free Shipping" coupon I will have to find another "Shop Site" like product. Does anyone know of a package that offers this apparently, simple and common feature?

I'm also trying to create a free shipping coupon and wish it were built in. Since it isn't I was looking deeper into the custom shipping API, which I am using to get UPS rates to show up along side with FedEx rates.

Is it possible to get the coupon code through the shipping API? It looks like that's the one variable that is not passed through from the cart, so there's no way for me to manually give them free shipping based on a coupon code either. Please let me know if there is a way to get that variable through the shipping API. That seems like a simple enough temporary fix

A Free Shipping Coupon should be available in the next major release of ShopSite Pro (post v8.3, probably later this year.)
