Minimum product weights

Postby powerstream » Fri Mar 23, 2007 2:59 pm

Amongst other products that I have are tiny batteries that can be purchased one at a time or in quantities of up 100,000 (and hopefully a million).

They weigh about 0.001 pounds.

Shopsite calls this zero and thwarts my attempts to be efficient by
saying shipping:none.

What can we do about this?

What version of ShopSite do you have, and what shipping method(s) do you have configured in Commerce Setup -> Shipping?

Shopsite 8

Shipping add on USPS2.cgi

I don't see anyplace that I can configure a minimum weight resolution.

I was able to assign a weight of 0.0001 to my products in ShopSite v8.2 just fine, so it sounds like perhaps it is your shipping add-on that isn't handling this small a weight? You should probably talk to the company your purchased the add-on from regarding this issue.

It seems that ShopSite rounds the weight value when passed to a shipping API to two decimal places. So, a weight of 0.001 gets passed to the API as 0.00, and a weight of 0.006 gets passed as 0.01. The weight does save properly in ShopSite, but it gets rounded to two decimal places when being passed to the realtime gateways and the shipping API.
