Shopping Cart Customization

Postby MarkB » Fri Mar 16, 2007 12:41 pm

Hi Guys!

My site is 100% built on custom templates, but I'm having some difficulty with the shopping cart. I've created the custom shopping cart template, but I can't figure out how to customize the "contents" of the cart.

I've looked thru the help system, messed with INCLUDE files, etc. But I can't seem to find which file sets the layout of the actual cart. Is there a way I can set what items (sku, qty, description, etc.) shows up in the cart and in which order they show up?

I have no problem creating the file from scratch, just need to know which file it is that controls this.

Thank-you,

MarkB

[-- SC_Cart delete quantity image name sku price total --]

You can delete the options or move them around to change the look of the products table..

Jim,

Is it possible to add extra fields to the shopping cart? Not mandatory, but I'd like to be able to add "Product Field 1" to my cart.

I sell novelty products and would like to add the product type, such as "t-shirt" or "button" or "magnet" to define what the item is that's been added.

Thanks,

Mark

Mark,

There is no way to add columns to the product table other than those already listed by Jim as parameters for the SC_Cart tag.

In ShopSite Pro the extra product fields are in the Shopping Cart JavaScript Variables that are included in the <head> section of each shopping cart screen for you to make use of, if you want, via custom JavaScript code, however I don't know of any way to get these values into the table of products produced by SC_Cart because there is no direct access to the HTML output by this tag. You could put it somewhere else on the cart screen, though, if you really had to. Or you could actually add your 'product type' text to the product name or SKU.

This is really not a problem, but wanted to know if I could do it. If my hosting provider upgrades to ShopSite 8.2, using the new images in cart option, that would do the trick too. But for now, I'm still using SS 8.1.

Thanks for the help!
