Buy 2 Get the 1 Free

Postby knucklehead » Mon Mar 05, 2007 7:18 am

Occassionally a specifc manufacturer will allow me to do a buy 2 get 1 free sale.

I am using one of the extra fields for manufacturer id, so I know how to sort and apply changes to a specific manufacturer, but can anyone suggest a way to pull off the shopping cart aspect of this sale?

I could use a coupon for $100 off, or a percentage off, but I cannot figure out how to pull off a buy 2 get 1 free sale when the offer does not apply to all items in the store; where it only apply applies to perhaps 20 of the products. AND how to get the shopping cart to enforce giving the following rule:

Only the product of equal or lesser value will be the freebie.

This would be done with the Rewards feature in ShopSite Pro.

That Would Not Work

This would work if there was one item that was the reward, but lets say they buy 2 qualifying products, the special allows them to select a reward from a list of qualifiying products (that are of equal or less value).

you create 2 categories of products, one that has the qualifying items and one that has the reward items. When they add the required number of qualifying items to the cart a message appears telling them they qualify for a reward and a link to go to a page with the possible reward items. When they add the reward item to the cart it will be no charge. If they remove qualifying items from the cart the reward product would then have a charge added so they can't trick the system.

So you just make sure that items in the reward category are of equal or lesser value than the ones in the qualifying items.

Thanks for the quick replies -

So, You can basically give them a PAGE of rewards to choose from, not just a single product??? Excellant.

Thanks

It just hit me...

But I still not have a SHOPSITE way of enforcing the freebie being the product that is equal or or less value than the other two products purchased...

You can have multiple qualifier categories and multiple reward categories. Just make sure that when you assign products to a reward category for a particular qualifier category that the products are of equal or lesser value.
