Moving Store to New Host

Postby knucklehead » Wed Feb 28, 2007 6:04 pm

I am moving from one host to another.

What is the best way to move my store stuff (for lack if a more technical term)?

My new host is running ShopSite® Pro 8.2.1.1

My current host is running ShopSite® Pro 8.1.3.1

I have custom pages galore, google analytics set-up, etc.
Nothing is ever simple.

Tells the steps of moving a store. Your new host should be able to do it for you as long as you have access to the old server.

Heat Mizer and Freeze Mizer

Postby knucklehead » Fri Mar 02, 2007 1:32 pm

I feel Jingle and Jangle flying between heat mizer and freeze mizer...

My hew host is only providing me with vague instructions and the host I am leaving is also giving me vague instructions.

Becuase I am leaving the current host, they are not being helpful. They cannot even seem to be able to tell me what type of CPU I am on so that I can ansser the question within YOUR instructions...

Can you tell me what files I suppose to grab/move out of the cgi-bin/sc, sgi-bin/ss, and shopsite-data directories?

No, because the files you can move can't be determined until you know the type of server your store is on now and the type of server that you are moving to.

If your current host won't/can't tell you what kind of server they have, view the HTML source of one of the ShopSite backoffice screens and look for the HTML comment near the top that should tell you the type of server that your current ShopSite program was compiled for (if it's v8.1.3.1 it will be Linux or FreeBSD or Windows or Solaris-SPARC).

I would bet your new host will be more forthcoming about this info since you are moving your business to them.
