Product De-activation

I would like to have the ability to de-activate a product from the entire site by removing the item from any page it was on and then deleting or renaming the actual product moreinfo page created by the publish.

I am not talking about removing the more info from the shopsite db, just the actual file created so if someone clicked on the item in a search engine, it would dislplay page not found.

There are many times I want to remove an item from the site without deleting it. For example, an item will be out of stock for many months but will be back in stock some day.

I am not sure if this is what you are looking to do, but try using one of the extra product fields for ACTIVE/INACTIVE,

Let's say you use Product Field 10 and call it "Active?" Put a "1" in there for Active and a "0" in there for inactive.

This way you could do a search on all product with 0 in Prduct field 10 and do a power edit to remove all inactivated products from all pages.
