Question about displaying multiple products

HI folks,

Well, day one is a success for this newbie....... thanks to your tips, I have a custom template that is working from a "visual" perspective. YIPPEE!!

So here is tonight's challenge.......I can't get the back office to allow me to assign more than one product to a page. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

More info is needed. What version of ShopSite, Pro, Manager, Starter?
How are you trying to assign the products? Is your back office Pages/Products in Advanced Editing or Basic Editing mode? The normal way to doe it would be in Advanced editing on the Pages screen select the page you want to put products on, click the Assign Items button Select Products from the list and continue. Next select the first product from the list and hold down the [Ctrl] key to select additional items. Then Save Changes. If you let up on the control key while selecting the selection reverts to single items.

In Basic Editing mode you select the Page from the list of pages and click on its name. You will be taken to a screen with a few entry fields and a list of all products with a check box by the name of the product. Simply check the boxes you want and save changes. This method works fine if you only have a few products but if you have hundreds the list of products is too long to scroll through.

Thank you Jim. I just needed to know the "trick"....hold down the ctrl key.

Can you direct me to a resource to read about uploading products in batch? I've noticed a couple of posts regarding the use of MS Access. I'm an Access user and would like to utilize a database also. Just don't know how to batch upload.

The upload functionality is found on the Utilities > Database screen. Depending on the version of ShopSite you have the screen may vary but there should be a Manage or Upload button that you can click on to get further into the process. On any of those screens click on the red ? button to get context sensitive help for that particular screen.

It is probably best to do a database download so you can see what fields are available. When you do an upload you do not need to include all fields, only those relevant to what you are doing need to be used and the others will be set to default values.
