Change order (sequence) of products in pages?

Postby kircaldy » Wed Jan 31, 2007 3:38 pm

Hi all.

Currently, my ShopSite stores add products into Pages chronologically. So for each ShopSite Page with a lot of products in it, ShopSite will generate a number of pages and the most recent products are on the last page.

I'd like to reverse this order, so that most recent products in a Page show up first and older products show in the subsequent pages.

Is there a way to change the order of products in this way? Where are these settings? I can't seem to find them anywhere!

Sorry if this has beeen addressed already. It's very hard to search for support on this topic because I'm using the word "order" as in "sequence", and every result it brings up refers to "order" as in "purchase".

Thanks so much!

Don't think there's a permanent way to alter the sequence so all the new products go to the top. You can certainly rearrange the products on a page whenever you want.

go to:
Pages>Arrange Items>Sort as Specified>Publish

tip: if you have say 10 products (numbered 1 thru 10) on a page and want to insert a new item in the third spot, give it a decimal number such as 2.1 and it will be listed after the second item. Much faster than renumbering all the items.

We tend to display new products near the top (to determine how they'll sell) and also best-selling/high margin items at the top too.

This is something I'd like to see in a future upgrade. Preferences to set how all pages sort products.

When you get into a site with hundreds or thousands of products, and paginated pages of products, sorting can become a nightmare.

A global "sorting" preferences page would fix it for most merchants. Most of us want to sort the same way on all our pages, whether it's alphabetically, newest to oldest or oldest to newest.

BTW. os tjere a datestamp in the product db to even know when a product was added?
