HELP PLEASE! Organizing Links on front page

Postby hiamps » Sat Jan 20, 2007 12:00 pm

I have my candle links and candle making supplies link all scattered on my front page. Does anyone know how I can seperate the two categories and make it easier for people to find what they are looking for?
Here is what my page looks like now http://swanscandles.com/store/

Have you tried arranging the items using the Arrange Items button on the main Pages screen?

I recommend just coding your navigation links like those in a custom template include. We create an include called "Navigation" and just put the code, for instance:

Code: Select all
<h2>Category Title</h2>
<ul>
<li><a href="#" title="#">Link One</a></li>
<li><a href="#" title="#">Link Two</a></li>
<li><a href="#" title="#">Link Three</a></li>
<li><a href="#" title="#">Link Four</a></li>
</ul>

<h2>Category 2 Title</h2>
<ul>
<li><a href="#" title="#">Link One</a></li>
<li><a href="#" title="#">Link Two</a></li>
<li><a href="#" title="#">Link Three</a></li>
<li><a href="#" title="#">Link Four</a></li>
</ul>

Then you can style the links any way you want. For instance, check out the link below for some help on styling them in different ways:

And a plus - it's easy to include the Navigation include on shopping cart and checkout pages, so you can make your site look uniform throughout.

It also lets you design secondary navigation (like sub-categories) that can use ShopSites built-in links function.

In, for instance, in Mozilla Firefox (the browser), you can mark the whole text in the menu you already have ready in your browser when you are looking at your website, and right click, then select view source for selected text.. then copy this code. sure there must be ways to do this in other browsers as well.

Copy that code, and paste it into one of all of your pages "text box". You can do this through the power edit button, when you have chosen all pages of yours: (not sure what to choose for other templates, but the one I use for my sky page is text box 2), choose text box 2, choose to have a global change, then click proceed, then you can paste in the menu, and you're done.

Works for me, and is very easy when done through power edit.

:) Saved me a lot of work!
