Bug on cart on Win98 and Netscape

Postby Gaëtan Bouchard » Fri Mar 01, 2002 9:27 am

We are having a bug that can easily reproduce

On win 98 on Netscape 4.7 try this...

Add a product to the cart.... continue shopping
Add another product... change the quantity press on Enter and not
recalcute..

You are then ejected ! and the cart content is deleted...

Any clues !?

Gaëtan,

This is a known issue with certain browsers and is caused by some
browsers thinking that since the Empty Cart button is the first submit
button on the page, it is the default action for the Enter key. It only
happens when you have more than one item in the cart and you change one
of the values in the cart, which make the browser behavior even
stranger. Anyway, you can find the description and a workaround in the
ShopSite Knowledgebase at http://support.shopsite.com/kase (search for
S05418).

Note: in v6.0 the order of the Recalculate and Empty Cart buttons was
switched to work around the browser deficiency.

Netscape uses the first button on the form as the default button when
the Enter key is pressed. Since the first button on the form is Empty
Cart that
is the action that is performed.

We have fixed this problem in ShopSite 6 by reordering the buttons so
Recalculate
is the first button on the form. You might be able to fix it in
previous versions by
editing one of the text fields for the shopping cart and adding an
additional hidden
recalculate button (using a small image the same color as the
background) prior to
where the empty cart button is in the form.
