Automating product upload & order download from desktop

I'm reimplementing an e-commerce site, using ShopSite's OrderAnywhere-by-SKU and the Shopping Cart (probably the Pro edition).

I'm using FileMaker Pro 8.5 to manage product information and order processing.

ShopSite's browser-based utilities offer product-upload and order-download features based on text files (tab-delimited or XML). I can export a product file from FileMaker and import order files into FileMaker.

I'd like to automate this process, replacing the browser-based activities with desktop actions (ideally in FileMaker).

I've searched this forum and found discussion of various desktop-based techniques. But many of these notes are a couple of years old and refer to earlier releases of ShopSite.

I'm curious about ShopSite 8.1 automation capabilities, especially those proven in real-world sites.

ShopSite Pro 8.1 supports auto XML uploads of pages/products. Reference the help docs on this feature at:

You can also submit a regular tab delimited text file via a custom URL directly to the backoffice, but this is a bit more tricky and not documented. The auto XML system above is the approved method for automating uploads.
