Products Upload From MS Access

I have all of my product info in a MS Access Dbase. And I want to upload the contents to SS.

The problem I am running in to is that some of my descriptions (more info text) have quotation marks, HTML or other marks that seem to prevent me from uploading the records via text file.

The upload works fine when I just put some basic, one-liner description in the more info text field.

The descriptions that are required for my products contain more than 4000 characters including HTML, quotes, commas etc.

Any ideas? or tips for me?

The items you mention will not cause a problem uploading data into ShopSite. What will cause a problem is if there are not the same number of tabs in each data record. You just need to export your data to a tab delimited format and it should upload into ShopSite just fine. Make sure you do not have embedded carriage returns in the text because that will cause a new record where the return is and thereby change the number of tabs in a record. Another possible issue is that some applications insist on putting quote marks around each field of the data if there is punctuation in the text for that field. You can over come this fault of those applications by selecting all the data and copying it to a text editor like wordpad and then saving the information from that application.

OK. I have my products set up in the following way (in my access database)

Short Description: (the summary description that would be displayed on a porduct LIST)

And

Long Description (4000-6000 character description that costomers will read from the more info page).

What SS field do I need to map to from access that can handle that many characters. I am trying to export my long description into the More Information Text field, but that is only holding 255 characters.

The moreinfo text field in ShopSite doesn't have a limit so you should be able to easily upload 6k to it. Where are you getting a limit showing up?

I figured out how to do it. When I was linking to the text file (the products download) from Access, I had to go into the Advanced settings during the link setup process and tell Access to set that field as a memo field.
