Referrer Tracking

Postby Switch Hits » Tue Feb 26, 2002 11:21 am

What's a good way to track where your customers are coming from? I've inserted the tag /?source=overture on the end of my Overture links yet I have no idea where I can track this through ShopSite. In looking at my SS Referrer report, I have 1 listing for the entire year and that is nothing but dates and a few numbers.

I have found the ShopSite SC Pro 5 reports feature to be very "analysis unfriendly" in that it is just a bunch of numbers. I recommend that you find out from your site host if they have any logfile analysis software that you use. I.E. Urchin, WebTrends.... Sometimes logfile analysis software is free (already in the price you pay). You should be able to see the "?source=overture" in good logfile analysis software.

Thanks, Larry. My host had 3 different statistic programs there all along...at no charge. Seek and ye shall find.

And if you don't like any that your host provides, try WebTrends Live (the paid version). The free version is nice but puts those little banners on your site. We have the paid version and have been VERY pleased with it. There are so many reports and statistics I don't know what to do!
