Doing a search in the ShopSite Admin

Postby dmsid » Thu Dec 07, 2006 1:23 pm

When doing a search for a product in the ShopSite admin area, lets say for adding an item to a page, is there a way to have the SKU always display first no matter what field we are seaching on.

Here is the idea:

We need to add products with the word Christmas in them to a special page. When we do a seach using "Name/contains" for "Christmas" we get a list of Names of the items, but not the SKU numbers on the list box. We can not tell what items are from what manufacturers and do no want to list specific manufacturers.

If the SKU number were always listed first no matter what field we searched on we would be able to identify it and add the correct ones to the page. Now it is all but impossible to do this.

So is there a way to change ShopSite so that when you do a search in the admin area that it will always list the SKU information first then the information requested?

Interesting note. If you do a search on the SKU or Price or other fields it adds the Name information for you in the list and not just the requested field. So it appears that some technology is in this routine that will list multiple fields in a result.

All the best,
-Jon

The field you searched on will be displayed along with the page/product name. There is no way to specify other fields to display in the list.

Is there a way to have custom programing done to display the SKU each time in the search?

Here is a simple solution. We are just going to add our SKU number to the front of the Name field.
