upselling with shopsite

Postby Rodney » Wed Jan 04, 2006 3:59 pm

PREFACE: I looked at the shopsite site and searched through the docs, but I
couldn't find anything about upselling. A google search brought up the popup
page from the shopsite website that has an example of an upsell in the
shopping cart with a dropdown box and comcation had an upsell module, but
neither is really what I'm looking for.

I sell t-shirts on my site, and I also have stickers for sale. Before I
switched to shopsite, the main way I used to sell stickers was as an
"add-on" purchase when someone bought a t-shirt. When they got to the
shopping cart page, they would see an option to purchase a sticker at 50%
off and 80-90% of people that bought t-shirts also bought a sticker.

Adding the item on the same page as the t-shirt doesn't generate the same
interest as a "special offer" when they are checking out to add a very low
priced item to their order.

Is there a way to add an upsell item that shows up when a person is checking
out via the shopping cart?

I also don't see where to do the dropdown upsell that I saw here:
http://www.shopsite.com/popups/upsell.html

Thanks,

Rodney

The dropdown upsell is using the products Order Options. With a Pro
level store you can change the price based on the order option selected.
This would allow you to have the sticker as an option to the tshirt
and have the price added to the price of the shirt.

Per option pricing is also supported in ShopSite Manager in version 8. :)

Oh ya, I should have known that. ;-)

It would also be possible to but Order Anywhere links on the shopping
cart page but you couldn't have them change based on what products are
put in the cart.

Has there ban any updates to the shopsite upselling abilities?

I'd really like the ability to offer a product during the checkout process (like a bumper sticker).

Miva had the ability to add a product at a discount during the checkout process as sort of a "special offer". This worked great for increasing small ticket item sales.

Does something like this exist yet, or could it be programmed?
