ordering options

Postby BigBooksandGifts.com » Wed Nov 01, 2006 8:39 am

Heres my problem....

We will have gourmet popcorn on our site and will be offering 1, 2 and 3.5 gallon tins with multiple choices for flavors.

1 gal. tin will offer only one choice in flavors
2 gal. tin will offer two choices in flavors
3.5 gal. tin will offer 3 choices in flavors

my problem is if someone is ordering a 2gal or 3.5gal tin they are forced to select 2 and 3 flavors, but what if they want a 3.5 gal tin with only one flavor? The customer is forced to select all 3 flavors. Is there a way they can select only ONE flavor and proceed to checkout without making a choice for flavor2 and flavor3?
Thanks,

If you only want one flavor selection to be required, only make one of the pull-downs required, like this:

1st flavor (please select one);n
vanilla
chocolate
rocky road

2nd flavor (optional, default none)
vanilla
chocolate
rocky road

3rd flavor (optional, default none)
vanilla
chocolate
rocky road

So because only the first flavor has the ;n after the first (default) option, only that pull-down will force the shopper to make a selection. Of course the initial option for the other two pull-downs now becomes a valid selection so if the shopper doesn't choose a different choice for those pull-downs, this is the value you will see in your order, so you may want to experiment with different text for the default options to find a way that it won't look odd to the shopper to see something like this in their receipt:

rocky road
vanilla
3rd flavor (optional, default none)

Loren,

It worked...I tried this earlier, but something must have gone wrong when I saved it.

Thanks,
