UPS Shipping Scenario

Postby XtrmBrew » Thu Aug 17, 2006 2:03 pm

I need some verification on the ShopSite UPS scenario. Here is a quick history.

I am using shopsite 8.01 and established an account with UPS. Afterwards, I went to configure shipping on shopsite and registered with UPS to make that connection between the site and UPS. Afterwards, I signed into UPS to establish Acc# and billing information based on the account that I established.

My scenario is as follows. Someone purchases something from the site. I then go to orders and print out the invoice. I package the stuff up and weigh it one last time to verify that I am in the right ballpark as what my site indicates based on each product's seperate weight. I go to UPS and manually create a shipment. If I want to provide the buyer with a tracking # I am going to have to email them manually.

I realize that I can download the orders and then upload a spreadsheet of addresses to the UPS address book.

I didn't know if I was missing something to make the process a little more automated or if you know of an API that I can buy to do so.

Have you considered downloading and installing UPS's shipment management software, Worldship?

I second Worldship. You can even set it up to automatically pull from a database. We use StoneEdge Order Manager (www.stoneedge.com) and Worldship integrates very nicely with the StoneEdge database. We don't have to retype anything. You could also create a very simple Access database to import your orders into.

Excellent advise. I am glad that my process is correct. I will follow up on Worldship, Stoneedge or just creating an Access Database.

Thanks!
