Postby Apropos » Sun Aug 13, 2006 9:04 pm

Hi all,

I uploaded a files fill of jpgs and for some reason I can't view them in shopsite. I made sure to reset image attributes and double check the file path for any errors. As well as downloading an image back on to my computer would I could view it fine. Someone please help! This is driving me nuts.

P.S

Also, just in case you ask. I did make sure that the image had no spaces or invalid charactors. The file path look fine to me as well. /store/media/costumes/Rasta/2006/01.JPG

Thank you,

Arthur

Where can you not see the images, on store pages or in the ShopSite backoffice interface?

How did you upload the images to your store, through the ShopSite interface or through ftp? If you uploaded the files by ftp did you reset permissions on the files so they can be accessed by the user the webserver is running as? Also if you used ftp did you transfer the files in binary mode and not in ascii?

How did you download the image back to your computer?

Do the images have the correct file type? I have seen people rename .bmp or .gif files to .jpg which can cause problems.

What is the url to one of the images that you can't view? Maybe if we have a url to look at we could see something that is causing the problem.

Hi Jim,

I can't view in the image in the back office or on a store page. I used ftp to upload the images in binary mode, made sure to reset the permissions on the files so that the webserver can access them. Also, I used the same ftp program (SmartFTP) to download the image back onto my computer.

I did double check the file type to make sure that each picture was a jpg file, so I didn't rename them incorrectly. Here's a url for one of the pictures. http://havinaparty2.bizland.com/store/m ... 2005/1.JPG

Hopefully you can help me.

Thanks

Arthur,

In Firefox, when I go to view that URL of the image, the browser says:

Code: Select all
The image cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

This can sometimes happen when you save a jpg file as CMYK file instead of RGB. Not all browsers can process CMYK encoded jpgs. Try saving it as an RGB jpg, delete, and re-upload.

Are you able to view the image if you upload it using ShopSite instead of ftp to get the image to the server? If so that would probably mean that there is a problem in the way you are ftping the image. If not then as Rob said there is a problem with the image itself.
