Updates to product database live before publishing

Postby JKafer » Fri Aug 11, 2006 7:01 am

I have been updating our store, adding items, changing prices, etc.
I uploaded a huge file and started placing the new items on pages, etc.

Well, I have not done the "Publish" process yet, but all the new prices are being used when someone places an order in the store.

On the 'product page' the old price displays, but when you hit add to cart, the new price is used.

Also, if you do a search, the new prices/info are displayed.

I had the understanding that until you do the "Publish" process nothing is live yet - even pricing.

Can I turn this off some way?

Unfortunately you cannot turn this off, as the upload you complete automatically updates the database in ShopSite. ShopSite uses the data in the database for the cart information, and for the search results.

The publish tab only controls the the creation of updated html pages, and the reindexing of new products and changed text. It does not prevent the database itself from being used with the new uploaded data in the cart and for populating the search results.
