8.1.2 - Search Page Layout backoffice page does not load OK

Using 8.1.2 on Solaris/Sparc

When I click Preferences --> Search Settings -->Search Layout, the resulting page does not display correctly. The page load ends at the "Background Image" area - meaning the 'save changes' at the bottom is never displayed.

Thus, I can't make changes to the layout...

Verified problem using 3 different client computers to access the backoffice. All are XP / IE6.

What does your diskspace usage look like? If you are out of diskspace (or have hit some sort of user or site quota) then it is possible that one of the settings files used for this screen has been truncated or something because of the lack of diskspace.

How many files do you have in the media directory (or subdirectories of it)? In Images -> Configure do you have the image method set to 'From a drop-down list' or is it set to 'From a pop-up window'? Whichever it is, try switching it to the other, Save Changes, then see if you see any more of that search settings menu.

I was on 'pop-up'; switched to drop-down - still hangs at the same spot(although, the little 'switch to pop-up window mode' is now displayed in the area). Switched back to pop-up and trouble still there...

What heppens when you go to Commerce Setup -> Order System -> Checkout? If you see a blank or incomplete page there too, then this means that something happened to the sbdata.aa file in your ShopSite Data directory, and you will need to restore this file from a good backup.

Truncation of files (my guess is this sbdata.aa file is the culprit) generally happens when there is a diskspace issue, thus the queston about available diskspace and your webserver user's disk quota. Have you had any diskspace/quota issues in the recent past? Perhaps even when making the backups prior to upgrading to the latest version of ShopSite?

It stops in the "Shipping address" area. "Title" and "First" and the associated two checkboxes and Size input field are displayed correctly; However, "Middle" has only the first check box and then the page hangs.

I've been at least 300MB under quota at all times.

I made a backup when upgrading to 8.1.2 - can I simply extract the file in question from the data.8.1.2.tar file and place it in the data directory?

Sure, you can do this. You may then want to remove the VERSION file from the data directory and re-run the upgrade (shouldn't mess with any of your other data files) to make sure this file gets any new values that it needs added for v8.1.
