Google Checkout - ShopSite® Pro 7.1.4?

Is there a way to use Google Checkout with my ShopSite® Pro 7.1.4? I'm
hosted at pair.com, and it doesn't look like they've upgraded to the 8
series yet.

Google Checkout will only work with ShopSite version 8.1. It takes a
while for ISPs to get things configured for new versions so check with
Pair next week to see when they will have ShopSite 8.1 available.

The upgrade is pretty much seamless and does not require any changes as the
merchant. The cart layout may change a bit (basically a few lines of text
may shift a bit) but everything else remains intact and you just have access
to the new features.

When going from version 7 to 8, if using the default cart template, the
position of the shipping options, zipcode, etc... may move a bit. Upgrading
from 8.0.x to 8.1 should not alter anything on the cart page.

If you enable the Google checkout option the shopping cart screen will
not include fields such as zipcode, coupons, surcharges, shipping etc.
Instead it will just list the products and have the regular buttons
such as Recalculate, Continue shopping, Checkout with an additional
Google Checkout button. Clicking the Checkout button will take you to
the shopping cart screen with all of the features you currently have and
will allow you to finalize the order as was done in previous versions of
ShopSite. Clicking the Google Checkout will take you to a Google screen
where the shopper enters their payment information or signs in if they
have previously entered payment information. Both screens use the same
shopping cart template so the look should be the same as what you
currently have with the exception of the fields mentioned above.

(probably a good idea!), you just have to ask to upgrade your own individual
account.

Looks like Pair is waiting on a maintenance release from Shopsite to fix
some of the small bugs in the 8.1 release. This was from pair:

"I would recommend that you hold off on the ShopSite 8.1 upgrade for now.
There were a few minor bugs discovered already in the initial release, and
ShopSite is currently working on the first maintenance release that
addresses these issues. According to ShopSite, the first maintenance
release should be available within the next few days, but it is possible
that it could take longer than that."

Lexiconn upgraded us 7/14/2006. They are very careful about upgrading and
test upgrades internally before they offer it to their customers. So far no
problems. The upgrade was transparent to us.

I guess pair is worried about the checkout problems (or other small issues
that I've read in the newsgroup) that may just be related to freeBSD
servers. I'm sure they will upgrade once the issues are sorted.
