Variable unit pricing...

Postby Pete Davis » Tue May 09, 2006 1:05 pm

I sell candle fragrance. I want to sell 1 ounce, 4 ounce, 1/2 pound and 1
pound. When I use the Variable pricing it does the 1 -3 and 4-8 and so on. I
want peaple to just order 1, 4 , 8 or 1 pound without all the oddball
amounts in between. If I set it up using Ordering options it doesn't add up
the weight? There has to be a way to do this right. Now I have 1 ounce pages
with 125 fragrances and 4 oz pages and so on. My site is getting really
cluttered and I only have a quarter of my product online....

You may want to use subproducts in ShopSite for this. You have a main
product (vanilla fragrance for example) that is not orderable, and then
sub-products such as 1 ounce vanilla fragrance, 4 ounce vanilla fragrance, 8
oz, and 16 oz. The subproducts then appear under the main product
description as separate items customers can order.

If you do not want separate products for each size fragrance, then your only
other options to keep weight accurate are to use javascript to force certain
numbers to be acceptable, or hardcoding the qty dropdown in the template
itself.
