Associates Program

Postby kory@dancedepot.com » Wed Nov 16, 2005 3:27 pm

I'm interested to hear of any successes/failures in get an Associates
Program off the ground.

We sell dance apparel, and I am targeting dance studios to place a very
small linked ad on their studio website into our Associates Program, to
which they would direct their students to. My pitch is three-fold:
#1 - Their students would save money via our low prices.
#2 - The studio would have more control over recommended uniforms, which is
important to these teachers. I even planned to create separate pages for
each studio listing the studio-preferred items.
#3 - The studio gets a commission on everything that gets sold.

I'm not having much success, and I suspect that the major stumbling block I
have is the technical side of adding our ad to their website (dance studio
owners are not always very tech-savvy, or even interested in learning how
easy it is).

My feeling is that instead of requiring that they put a link on their
website, I need to come up with a different solution. Perhaps they give
their students a code of some type to enter at some point, or any other way
of tracking sales by studio.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

You could offer them the service of doing it for them. For example,
download the page you want the link on, add your link to it, and
send it to them with instructions on how to upload it.

This has the added advantage of letting you have more control over
size, placement, etc.

Best regards
mark
