Learning What Visitors Search For

It would be very helpful if we could determine what visitors
look for using the product search box. We may sell red,
white and blue widgets, but have no idea that visitors
want polka dot ones. I understand that SS currently
lacks the ability to record searches.

Has anyone implemented this feature using some kind of
script? This would seem to be a good feature to include in
future upgrades.
