items not showing up in shopping cart until refreshed?

Thank you Loren and Rob for your help with my previous post. I have one more
question not pertaining to the last open to all that can help...

Here is the live scenario:

If you go to the homepage here: http://www.noelle.com/index.html, then click
Gift Certificates, click on 25.00 to add to the cart. Now click the Continue
Shopping button, and add a 45.00 gift certificate, now click the Events link
on the right, then click the View Cart link on the right. The shopping cart
is only retaining the 25.00 gift certificate and not the 45.00 one. It's
almost like it's caching the first time but doesn't refresh after that. The
only way to make subsequent additions to the shopping cart show up is to hit
the Recalculate button or refresh your browser. I have tested this on a few
machines with the same results. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to
add some additional code to make this work right? Anyone else have this
problem. I would really appreciate any help with this, I've been wracking my
brain and can't figure it out.

Noelle,
Your links on the right appear to be flash links and not regular hyperlinks.
I believe that calling the "View Cart" from a flash menu instead of an html
menu causes problems with the cart not updating, as browsers cannot detect
if the page being called should be refreshed or not. You may want to make
the "View Cart" link a regular html link to prevent this behavior.

It worked just fine for me in Firefox, perhaps the caching issue Rob
mentions is specific to IE.

Hmmm. Interesting that it worked in Firefox, I hadn't tried another browser
(duh). I'll have to do some more testing without the flash menu, just put a
static link in there and see if that does the trick, I'll let you know if I
can come to some kind of conclusion/solution. Thanks again!
