adding fields to checkout stand

Is it possible to add fields to the checkout stand? I have a client who is
accepting political contributions and is required by State Law to try and
get the contributors "Occupation", "Employer" and "Employers State", in
addition to all the usual information. How can I add these fields?

If you have ShopSite Pro, use the Custom Checkout Field feature
configured in Commerce Setup -> Order System -> Checkout, see the help
documentation for that screen to see how to configure this. If you do
not have Pro, then you would just have to ask the shopper to provide
this information in the comment box that is on the checkout screen. You
can change the text label that goes above the comment box in Preferences
-> Store Text -> Checkout.

This is great feedback. Looks like I'm gonna have to upgrade him to Pro. The
"Comments" field won't work because it can't be made a mandatory field.

Assuming I've upgraded to Pro, do you know if it's possible to make a field
mandatory based on the amount of a purchase? This information is really only
required for those making purchases of $100 or more.
