Update Pricing in the order option menues

Postby Nikolaus Gruchot » Tue Jul 12, 2005 5:31 am

Hi all,

the current situation in V 7.x.

I have a product, lets use a T-Shirt for the example:

Product name: T-Shirt
SKU: 12345x
Price: 10,00 EUR

In the order options I have:

123450 T-Shirt white (standard)
123451 T-Shirt white with print (+3,00 EUR);+3.00
123452 T-Shirt red (+1,50 EUR);+1.50

When I put this product in the shopping cart and choose the second option
"white with print" the product price is updated to 13,00 EUR in the cart.
However the product options are NOT updated. They still read:

123450 T-Shirt white (standard)
123451 T-Shirt white with print (+3,00 EUR);+3.00
123452 T-Shirt red (+1,50 EUR);+1.50

IMHO they should now rather read:

123450 T-Shirt white (-3,00 EUR);-3.00
123451 T-Shirt white with print (standard)
123452 T-Shirt red (-1,50 EUR);-1.50

The DELL shopping cart for example is updating the option pricing depending
on the selected option. I find that extremely convenient from the shoppers
point of view when shopping there. I think this should be considered to be
implemented in ShopSite as well.

Best regards,

Niko

P.S. To be completely honest: No, we do not sell T-Shirts (just an example)
and Yes, I do shop at Dell.

Niko,
In this example "123451 T-Shirt white with print (+3,00 EUR);+3.00"
everything in front of the ; is just text that you entered when you
created the order option. ShopSite doesn't know if you included a price
there (i.e. (+3,00 EUR)) or not. The (+3,00 EUR) could just as easily
have been written "costs 3,00 Euros more" Everything after the ; is
used as an adjustment to the base price and is never seen by the shopper.

I can see your point about having the price adjusted in the shopping
cart but since ShopSite isn't displaying anything by the text you
entered it would be hard to do. How would it be determined if you had
entered a price or not in the text since there is no specific format for
entering one and it is really optional to have it there or not?
