miva to shopsite conversion tool?

Postby Rodney Blackwell » Thu Jun 02, 2005 4:02 pm

I've searched the knowledge base, resources area, help documents and Google
but I can't seem to find out if there is a tool that will help me convert my
miva store to a shopsite store.

Is there a migration tool available for refugee miva merchants?

I do not know of such a tool, but you might check with Lexiconn.com - they
are an excellent host company that is familiar with both systems.

There is no direct conversion process that I am aware of, but you can get a
Miva module such as modstop.com FlatFile Product Export module:
http://www.modstop.com/store.mv?PROD=MIVA-FLPRODSX

And use this to export your Miva products to a text file that can then be
uploaded into ShopSite, which makes the process go more smoothly.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that info.

Can I do an import to ShopSite even after I do the initial shopsite setup?
My host just setup shopsite on my account, but I haven't gone through the
initial setup yet, because I thought I'd have to do an import first?

You can import new products to ShopSite at any time. You should go
through the ShopSite Setup Wizard first because until you go through the
Wizard once, the main menu (start.cgi) will always redirect to the
Wizard (wizard.cgi). The wizard is a simple setup utility that shows you
how to manually create one page and one product and some other simple
setup options (shipping, tax, etc), it does not allow you to do an
upload/import, so you need to get past the Wizard the initial time in
order to get started with your import.
