Visa Security Requirements

Postby Andrea » Mon May 23, 2005 3:10 pm

how is the CC data stored in Shopsite? Is it secured in keeping with Visa's
new security requirements?

Will encryption interfere with or change order downloads?

I have my site checked by ScanAlert HackerSafe and they have prepared the
necessary report to insure my site complies with the new requirements. With
this report, I assume everything is OK with Shopsite.

Hello Andrea,
Hello Gary,

I have contacted ScanAlert through their webpages last week for PCI
certification until today they have not replied. Maybe because we are based
in Germany (indicated with the request). Anyhow I did spent half a day
working through google searches and found: http://www.securitymetrics.com/

Very nice site. Easy to understand explanations. FREE! Evaluation scan of
one domain including results. Online price list with all pricing viewable up
front (not common!) and very nice and responsive support staff (even for me
being from Europe, not common as it seems).

I have just PCI certified my online shop site through them :-)

Best regards,

Niko

Part of the CISP requirements say to

"Render sensitive cardholder data unreadable anywhere it is stored,
The MINIMUM account information that needs to be rendered unreadable is the
payment card account number"

ShopSite does encrypt the CC data and other sensitive payment
information. When you do a download ShopSite decrypts the data before
sending to the client over SSL. Once the merchant has downloaded CC data it
is up to them to ensure it is protected according to CISP requirements.
