Can I pass a 12 character string from my website to Shopsite Pro so that it
shows on the purchase checkout screens and on the e-mail receipt sent to the
customer?

If so, how do you do this?

The best way to do something like this is to use a cookie to store the info,
and then read that cookie via Javascript or using the "CALL" tag on the
checkout screen to check for the cookie, and output it's contents on the
checkout page. For the e-mail receipt, you would probably need an order API
script that would send a custom email, or possibly you could input the
cookie contents into a hidden field on the checkout screen for a custom
checkout field that you also display on the email receipt.

I do not know of a direct way to have information directly inserted into
ShopSite without the use of cookies or CALL scripts to handle the data.
