how to raise prices by set amount across all products easily

Postby Stan Frantz » Fri Dec 10, 2004 12:56 pm

I often need to raise prices a set amount across all products from a
specific supplier. such as if they change a shipping rate.

I have programmed in a db field for my suppliers so I can select all the
products from them, but since all the products have different prices I can't
raise them all by $6.07 using global power edit. I have over 300 different
products to re-price. It takes awhile and is open to typos to do each one
manually, not to mention brain farts affecting my arithemetic. :)

any suggestions? is there anything I'm missing in the documentation?

thanks

Download your products in tab-delimited format and load the file into a
spreadsheet. You can do all kinds of math calculations on all of the
numbers in the Price column (add a certain amount, add a certain
percentage, etc), then export from the spreadsheet back to tab-delimited
and upload the file back into ShopSite to update the prices of your
products.

Hi Stan,

how about doing a product download in txt format, opening the download with
excel, do a price change with the batch functionality there and re-uploading
the updated product db?! Would that be the easiest way... ?!

Regards,

Niko

but I was hoping there was something I could do thru the admin interface
something simple like selecting all the products in question and doing a
power edit on the price with a wildcard and an operator ie.

*+ 6.06

like you do when setting varying prices in an options list.
hopefully it would take whatever value was stored as the price for each item
and alter it accordingly.
hint, hint to shopsite programmers ;-)

If I have to tho, I will probably go the data base route.

thx,

stan

Tab delimited would be best. Excel add " to some fields causing problems.
