A little off topic: The fraudsters have become smarter and usually no longer
ask for items to be shipped to Nigeria, Russia, Indonesia.... Instead they
use innocent looking US addresses without any company names, but the address
is really to their account at a US freight forwarder. Address verification
and CVV2 are very important to minimize or eliminate fraud but are not the
only checks we depend upon. Online merchants must be constantly vigilant and
must help each other by immediately reporting suspected credit cards to
their clearinghouse. I'm distrustful of address verification for non-USA
issued cards. We have been told by NOVA that they can only verify USA
addresses.
To verify IP addresses (nicely provided by ShopSite in each order) we use
www.dnsstuff.com.
To determine the issuing bank we use our clearinghouse's (NOVA) online VISA
& Mastercard db.
To verify a customer's address and telephone number we use
www.whitepages.com.
To learn about the street address we search for it with Google.com.
Searching for the street address has, in some cases, told us the address is
a freight forwarder.
I am interested to learn how others scrutinize suspected orders and sources
of international telephone directories especially reverse phone lookups.

Hello Alvin,
your question is backwards.
_All_ VISA cards worldwide have the CVV2 code, so if you can process it in
_your_ country, use it!
We ship worldwide and use Amex, VISA and MC for payments.
Please note that the CVV2 alone is no protection against fraud at all. You
need to look at your customer closely, do an address check (almost all
countries have online phone books), match the IP number of the order that
shopsite provides you, with the country the order is supposed to come from
and NEVER EVER deliver to Indonesia and Russia!
One can buy credit card data (real and fake) ones including CVV2 values by
the hundred of the (dark side of the) web.
If you are not sure about your customer, DO NOT deliver and ask for
address confirmation by faxing some kind of ID.

Niko

I just got of the phone with Visa, and what a major headache. People
working at larger firms do not know anything.
OK, OK my question........
We currently ship to Canada and UK if the card passes the CVV2
verification.
I was trying to find out if any other countries are working with CVV2.
If
the CVV2 is working for you in other countries please let me know.
Kind Regards
ABR
