Newbie- Custom Buttons v7 PRO

Postby sroz » Mon Oct 25, 2004 12:24 pm

Hi I apologize if this has been covered before: I have looked in the
obvious places and did a search in the Knowledgebase and got back fairly
useless (to me at this point) issues.

Is there a place I can pick a different set of storewide buttons, OR, is
there a list somewhere of all the buttons a store would use so I could
create them myself? I have been hunting thru the set-up pages for every
instance of a button, surely there has to be an easier way?

Also, can I name my buttons whatever I want as long as I pick them from
the list in the appropriate screen, or will everything be happier if I
name my new buttons exactly as they are currently named (overwrite the
existing buttons?

(I am a little disappointed at the low degree of 'pre-set' customizable
options available to me re the look-and-feel of my site. Yes, I did pick
this program for it's huge back-end capabilities, and I do understand I
can customize everything via custom templates, at some point when I have
some time, but right now I need a store quick, but I just can't bring
myself to use those yellow buttons :p )

Thanks,
Sue

There is no way to change all buttons used in the store at once.
The buttons you will need depends on the features you have enabled.
The best way to change the buttons is to create them the way you want
them and upload them into your store's media directory like you would
any other image for the store. You can name them what ever you want as
long as you select them on the configuration screens. Then go to the
various configuration (Preferences > Store Text >) screens and select
the buttons for each of the options that you will be using. (for example
if you aren't using customer registration you wouldn't need butttons for
that area.

Here is a list of buttons that are in the 7.1 version.

apply_coupon.gif edit.gif remove.gif
back.gif empty_cart.gif return_to_cart.gif
back_to_cart.gif go.gif return_to_store.gif
back_to_store.gif save.gif make_changes.gif
buy_gift_certificate.gif cancel.gif
ship_to.gif change.gif sign_in.gif
change_challenge.gif submit.gif
change_password.gif submit_this_order.gif
checkout.gif no.gif tax_shipping.gif
confirm.gif orders.gif continue_shopping.gif
password.gif update.gif delete.gif
payment.gif delete_item.gif preferences.gif
view.gif discover_small.gif recalculate.gif
yes.gif done.gif redeem_certificate.gif

There are a few sample buttons for the basic function in ShopSite found
in the help at
http://help.shopsite.com/help/7.1/en-US ... ttons.html

Jim, that's great, the list is just what I was looking for. This way I
can create them all at once in a button program, upload them, and
they'll be there when need them.
Thank you!
Sue
