Hi there,
We are using Shopsite Version 7. Is there a way to edit the text messages
that are displayed from the JavaScript alerts that popup within the checkout
area?
Thanks in advance,
Mike
Edit JavaScript Alerts V.7
Re: Edit JavaScript Alerts V.7
Don't know exactly which messages you want to change but look under
Preferences > Store Text > Messsages or one of the other Store Text
screens for the text you want to change.

Re: Edit JavaScript Alerts V.7
Hi there,
Thank you for your reply. I am aware of the preferences links .... not what
I needed. Sorry for the vagueness. For example, if a customers is on the
CHECKOUT page and does not check the radio button, SHIPPING ADDRESS SAME AS
BILLING ADDRESS. A JavaScript alert pops up asking them to fill in the
ship-to name, address, city...etc. I would like to change the text on that
alert.
Thank you

Re: Edit JavaScript Alerts V.7
What version of ShopSite are you using?
What exactly do you want to change? All the text on that popup should
be configurable in the Preferences > Store Text screens.
Are you trying to add additional javascript checking? If you are using
ShopSite 7 then you could replace the custom template tag [--
SC_JAVASCRIPT extras --] in the template with ALL of the ShopSite
generated javascript plus whatever else you need to add. Note that if
ALL of the ShopSite generated javascript is not present your store may
not function. Also note that the javascript generated by that tag is
different on each screen of the shopping cart so if you follow this path
you would need to add your javascript in several sections of the template.

For instance, if the billing and shipping address are the same and you
forget to check the box for billling and shipping address are the same. You
receive an alert that ask,
PLEASE FILL IN SHIPPING NAME
PLEASE FILL IN SHIPPING ADDRESS
PLEASE FILL IN SHIPPING CITY
ETC
ETC
ETC
Can this be edited as I would like it to say something like
PLEASE FILL IN SHIPPING NAME OR CHECK THE BOX BILLING AND SHIPPING ADDRESS

PLEASE FILL IN SHIPPING CITY OR CHECK THE BOX BILLING AND SHIPPING ADDRESS

Re: Edit JavaScript Alerts V.7
It appears this is under...Preferences...Store Text....Messages.
However...it appears that all you can change is the "Please Fill In" part of the
text. The rest of the phrase is the description text for the field that needs
to be filled in. This appears to be used for all the instances where
information may be left blank accidentally, so you can't even put the message
about checking the "Billing and Shipping are the same" box in front because it
would show up in inappropriate instances.

The messages on that dialog are a concatination of several strings. Take
for example the message "Please fill in Shipping Address First"
"Please fill in" comes from the Preferences > Store Text > Messages >
Please fill in field (near the bottom of the page)
"Shipping Address" Is the name that is displayed at the column of data
for the Shipping address and is configured on the Preferences > Store
Text > Checkout > Shipping Address field
"First" comes from Preferences > Store Text > Checkout > First
You can modify any of this text but be aware that it may be used in
several places so what might look good in the javascript popup may not
look good or may be inappropriate in other places where it is used. For
example if you change "Please fill in" to "Check the box 'Check here if
billing and shipping are the same' or fill in this field:" It may look
good on the java popup for address fields but would be inappropriate
when the shopper didn't fill in the proper credit card information.

Yes, thanks. That I didn't want to do because of what both of you said. I
though I would be able to find a global file or something that had the
