Advanced Edit fails with empty graphics field

Postby Chuck Griffith » Tue Sep 28, 2004 2:05 pm

If a graphic field in the products database is left empty during an upload,
the Advanced Edit or the Power Edit screens fail to show any fields to edit.
The HTML generation seems to fail mid way. No error message appears in any
Apache error log.

Since we don't plan on using ShopSite to generate pages, and hence don't
need the graphic field, is there any way to get around this? ... a fix?

I upload databases without images all the time and have never
experienced this problem. The more likely problem is that you have bad
html in one of the product fields or perhaps you have too much
text(html) in some of the fields.

Your best resource would be to contact your ISP and have them escalate
the problem to ShopSite if they are unable to help you.

As a side note. I can see why you would need to edit products to change
the price but if you don't plan on using ShopSite generated pages you
shouldn't need much more than the name and price and you wouldn't need
to generate the pages at all. What other information is in your upload
file?

Turns out the problem was that the shopsite html directories were not in the
location that the license expected. The programs died and didn't log any
errors when they couln't find the directory.
