Can't get through a Regenerate / Publish (search index?)

I can't seem to get through a successful Regenerate or Publish. It just
stops below:

Keyword Display Disabled
Cleaning Environment

It shows products and pages being indexed for search and then just
stops. If I turn of indexing it seems to publish changes successfully.

I'm using a custom product template with subproducts, but don't know if
that has anything to do with it. We've been able to publish successfully
until now... and have been using the custom templates for months now.

Any ideas?
